Hotel accommodation at Indian National Parks

For the visitors interested in tiger safari, Indian tiger reserves as Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench offer accommodation of various type. The hotels of Kanha offer rates which are suitable for the economy class and the luxury traveler as well.

There are three star resorts and lodges which offer luxurious amenities and varied cuisine. Though the economy hotels in Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench charge lower rates they are by no means lacking in facilities.

Most of the resorts are well maintained jungle lodges among green and verdant forest tracts which deliver suitable surroundings. The service is good and ambiance is adequate. To an economy ecotourist luxury matters little for he seeks comfort, cleanliness and good food which the budget resorts and lodges offer here.

The hotels in Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench National Parks can be booked online or booked through a land based travel agent in India.

The popular packages offered by these jungle resorts are :

Jungle Plan: JP includes lodging and boarding and also the park safari.

American Plan:AP includes lodging and boarding but excludes jungle safari.

Some lodges charge on room only basis.

It is up to the ecotourists to go for the accommodation that suits them the best.

Where to see tiger

When you look forward to see the endangered tiger in India you are in for a wild tiger safari.  The best thing is happening to you for you are in for watching amazing Indian wildlife and Indian birds. Do book your tiger tour in advance. Look for a travel agent India that caters for ecotourism since they are well versed in offering package tours that are suitable for a tiger safari.

The best places to see tiger are in Central India in the state of Madhya Pradesh at Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench tiger reserves. The other place you can expect to see tiger is the Ranthambhore National Park and Corbett but the first three offer the best tiger sighting in India.

Bandhavgarh is the most enchanting tiger heaven on earth with unique charismatic landscape and historical ruins, ancient caves and monuments as fort, dungeons and exotic temples and zoomorphic statues of Lord Vishnu. It harbors the maximum number of tigers in a given area in whole of India.

Kanha is renowned world famous national park where zoologists like George Schaller conducted successful study that was instrumental in saving the Bengal tiger and the Hard ground barasingha or the swamp deer (Cervus duavcelli branderi). Kanha harbors a large number of mammals, reptiles, birds and insect species with amazing array of butterflies to impress a wildlife lover, scientist and the visiting tourist as well.

Pench tiger reserve is the Mowgli land where Mowgli the wolf child was discovered and made famous eventually by Rudyard Kipling in his “Jungle Book”. The Pench river intersects through the forest in turn sheltering amazing biodiversity and wildlife in its folds. The forests are dry deciduous types and are famous for birds as well as the tiger.

These sanctuaries also offer the finest birding tour to those interested in Indian birds. They harbor around 250 plus bird species with Corbett leading with around five hundred plus Indian bird species including winter migrants.

Bandhavgarh Wildlife Travel

Not only the majestic white tiger and wildlife, India abounds in ancient history. But the most amazing presence of wildlife and ancient history is Bandhavgarh tiger reserve. Here the tiger survives among the ruins of hundreds of monuments – forts, temples, caves and sacred idols. One comes across ancient artifacts during the tiger safari in the core area of the park. There are many man made caves and reservoirs found in the park some with Brahmi Script etched on the walls.

The caves provide excellent shelter to tigers and many breed here. Since the park is out of bound for human settlers the animals have lot of undisturbed areas where they can breed. The temples are ancient Hindu places of worships and some are still in perfect state of preservation. Besides the fort the most interesting place is the Seash Shaiyya or the reclining Vishnu.

The preserve is a picturesque spectacle as the jeep traverses between the hillocks and the snaking rivers. The forest are home to many tigers who prefer to hunt in the swampy grasslands created by the rivulets. White tiger was discovered near the forests of Bandhavgarh National Park in MP.

The tiger rules supreme for the kings, queens and their consorts have gone. Only the ruins are as scribes tell that of Kulturi and the Baghelas, who once ruined this little paradise. On your India travel and tiger tour you must visit Bandhavgarh it is nature’s most wonderful preserve that enthralls thousands of travelers every year.

The exotic wild animals, birds and biodiversity is unique. There are twenty two plus species of mammals and around two hundred fifty species of birds in the tiger reserve.

Tiger Tour in India

Tiger safari or tiger tours in India usually are of two weeks and the itinerary includes both places to see like Delhi and a tiger destination like Kanha Tiger Reserve in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. This is because the landing point in India is usually Delhi for in bound tourists. Delhi offer great historical monuments to see.

There is a direct flight from here to Jabalpur and Kanha is approx 165 km away by road. The itinerary may include Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve as well since both tiger reserves offer the best chance to see the tiger. In fact none can beat them in terms of tiger sightings. A three to four night stay in Jungle will offer a chance to see a tiger. Very very few go disappointed.

Other animals like Sambhar (cervus unicolor) Spotted Deer (axis axis) Hard Ground Barasingha (cervus duavcelli branderi) are a treat to watch. The latter being present only at Kanha.

Both the national parks offer very good bird watching and hence are good birding destinations.

I have conducted many nature tour for bird watching and tiger watching at both these places with a very high degree of success.
